Where to look on the certificate
- Legal entity. Often in small print. "TÜV NORD" can be a UK, Dutch or Greek company, each with its own accreditation.
- Accreditation mark. UKAS, RvA, ACCREDIA, ESYD or ANAB, often with a number. No mark: not accredited.
- Standard. "ISO/IEC 42001:2023". A 27001 certificate says nothing about AI.
- Scope. Your AI service must be inside it.
- Dates. Valid 3 years, with surveillance audits in between.
Why the mark matters more than the brand
Each legal entity of a group holds its own accreditation. On 2026-11-03, BSI held 42001 accreditation through 3 entities, under UKAS, RvA and ANAB. DEKRA and DQS held it only through US entities, under ANAB.
When the check finds nothing
- The registry name differs. Type the main word only.

- The accreditation is new. Ask for the accreditation number.
- The certificate is not accredited.
